Carrie Nelson always designs projects we love & she recently teamed up with Joanna Figueroa for an entire book of wonderful quilts.
There are lots of quilts we want to make in this book but one that jumped out immediately was Oregon Trail.
Of course, we had to think about alternative ways to color it & we've now settled on an 1800s reproduction option combining lots of different shirting backgrounds & a huge array of 1800s prints for the blocks. Here's a digital mockup of how we envision the quilt coming together:
We'll use a variety of light greys for the sashing, lots of different shirting fabrics for block backgrounds and then a huge selection of prints for the blocks. The cutting in the book is set up so you'll cut block components from the prints & then mix & match to create the scrappy blocks.
Here's a detail shot of our first test block:
The book has 2 construction methods--all rotary cutting using stitch & flip techniques or rotary cutting with templates. If you want to use the templates, order them here
You'll need the book for the pattern. Order it here.
Then, sign up for the program. It starts in October, 2021 and runs for 12 months. By the end you'll have all the fabrics needed to make our queen-sized version, including binding.
Monthly shipments are just $24.95 plus shipping. As always, if you're in more than one program, we're happy to combine them into one shipping to help you save on shipping.
