We've had so many requests to offer a new edition of Mrs. Billings Coverlet, and we're excited to finally have all the details of a new program for you.
This is Karen Styles' masterpiece quilt. It finishes at approximately 94" square.
Since Karen first introduced this pattern, various quilters have made some really unique interpretations of the pattern. That work has inspired us to offer this program in THREE colorways.
Of course we love the original with its pink, red and brown focus. We've been stalking all the companies and saving back prints that will work and finally feel we can offer a great version similar to Karen's version as shown on the pattern. This version will use a Moda Bella solid for the background selected with input from Karen.
We'll be also be offering a scrappy 1800s version. To give you an idea of how this version will look, we found this inspiration photo. We'll include scores of great reproduction prints in all the colors.
Sanity by Glenys Nash--A scrappy 1800s version of Mrs. Billings Coverlet This scrappy version will use Dolores' Footings shirting from her upcoming Foundation line for the main background and then a huge array of 1800s reproduction fabrics for the blocks.
And, finally, we're offering a bright version. This version will use a black background and feature lots of prints that can be fussy cut & highlighted in the blocks, including Tula Pink's upcoming Tiny Beasts, current Tula lines, and lots of other bright prints from today's top contemporary designers. Here's the black background: This quilt can be made with your choice of techniques: hand piecing, English paper piecing, or machine piecing for the adventurous, confident stitcher. The first kits will ship in late December, 2021 or early January, 2022 depending on fabric availability and shipping (supply chain delays continue to be a challenge).
As always, we charge exact shipping from the USPS to send out your monthly programs. If you're in more than one program, we're happy to combine them into one shipment to help you save.
We realize this program is a major financial commitment due to pattern costs & the optional paper pack. If you already have the pattern, you're welcome to join us & just get the fabric kits. If you need to space out the purchase, we're happy to charge you for the pattern and/or papers in November & ship them in advance of your fabric kit. Just send us and email & we'll work with you!
All of our Special Programs or Monthly Programs require a commitment from you for the length of the program. Signing up for a Block of the Month is the same as putting a quilt on "lay-away". You are making a commitment to purchase the entire set of patterns or kits. There are NO exceptions to this rule, so please don't ask if you can discontinue a program once you've joined in.
