Farmer's Wife Pony Club Sampler Quilt

Laurie Aaron Hird is BACK with a fantastic new project! If you've made the Farmer's Wife Quilt or just recently joined one of the online quilt-alongs to make it, you'll definitely want to sign up to make the Pony Quilt!

You'll need Laurie's book to start. Laurie used customer feedback from her first book to add lots of additional detail & assistance with this book. It includes a CD and a variety of ways to do the blocks--rotary cutting where applicable, templates, foundation patterns. Of course, the highlight of the book is the fabulous collection of letters from the Lucky Pony Winners of 1915--what a treasured piece of history that Laurie is sharing with us! So, the book retails for $32.95. Members of our monthly program will receive the book at a discounted price of $27.95 and we'll apply the discount when we process your order.

Here's a picture of the featured quilt which finishes at 96" x 105".

Now that we've had a chance to look at the book, the original fabric choices and the letters, we've settled on two colorways that we'll be offering.

Since the letters upon which the book is based are from a 1915 contest, we'll offer a version showcasing the prints and colors of the late 1800s/early 1900s (classic navies, reds, blacks and shirtings with a pop of green, chrome yellow and cheddar so the quilt has the visual punch of the original).

Based on customer feedback, we're also offering a version of this quilt done in fantastic batiks--we'll follow the overall color plan of the original just with batiks.

There are 90 blocks in the quilt as shown. We're setting this up so you get 5 blocks per month, a number that lets you make about one block per week if you're following along with the Yahoo group that will be making this quilt, but not an overwhelming amount each month. This will be an 18 month program and along the way, we'll offer sashing fabric so you can set the quilt together as you go if you choose to do that.

Monthly kits in the 1800s colorway will be $18.95.
Reserve your 1800s spot here.

Monthly kits in the batiks colorway will be $22.95.
Reserve your batik spot here.

The first kits will ship in October, 2011.

All of our Special Programs or Monthly Programs require a commitment from you for the length of the program. Signing up for a Block of the Month is the same as putting a "quilt" on lay-away. You are making a commitment to purchase the entire set of patterns or kits. You have the choice of prepaying for the entire BOM or paying on a monthly basis. There are NO exceptions to this rule, so please don't ask if you can discontinue a program once you've joined in.
