4" x 5" Quilt-Block Anthology
It's been a while since an 1800s reproduction quilt has caught our eye as worthy of a monthly program. As soon as we saw the cover of The 4" x 5" Quilt-Block Anthology
, we knew it was destined to be a monthly program.
The book features 182 - 4" x 5" quilt blocks. The unique size means that you probably haven't made these exact blocks before. The blocks in the book focus on a palette of 1800s reproductions fabrics in shades of red, blue, black and double pink along with shirting-style prints for backgrounds. Our program will use this palette.
There are several quilts shown in the book using the blocks. Of course, we want to make all the blocks so our program focuses on this quilt, The Sparrow's Window,
by Linda Koenig. It finishes at about 77" x 93".
We're offering this program over a period of 18 months so you'll make 10 blocks a month with 2 extra along the way.
We've located sashing and finishing fabrics that are a close match to the originals. You can order our finishing kit & we'll ship in early June when the program starts so you can set your blocks as you go. Or, you can provide your own sashing and borders.
You'll need the book if you don't already have it. It's available here
If you want our sashing and border kit, these are the fabrics we're using and you can order your kit here
Then, sign up
to receive the 18 monthly kits. We'll be sending a huge variety of 1800s reproduction fabrics in the colors shown, carefully curated to make that month's blocks. You'll receive large pieces each month so you can mix & match placement within that month's blocks if you prefer some colors over others. The first kits will ship in early June, 2017. Each kit is just $12.95 plus shipping.
We think this is an amazing quilt that would look great in other palettes, too. If you would like to see a version in batiks or in more contemporary/modern prints, email us--if there's enough interest, we'll add another colorway. All of our Special Programs or Monthly Programs require a commitment from you for the length of the program. Signing up for a Block of the Month is the same as putting a "quilt" on lay-away". You are making a commitment to purchase the entire set of patterns or kits. You have the choice of prepaying for the entire BOM or paying on a monthly basis. There are NO exceptions to this rule, so please don't ask if you can discontinue a program once you've joined in.
