Phebe

Finishing at 86” square, Phebe is a Di Ford masterpiece designed to showcase 1800s prints. We’re excited to offer this quilt as a monthly program.

Featuring a gorgeous central medallion with applique motifs, surrounded by numerous pieced borders, Phebe was inspired by a cross-stitch piece, which was in turn inspired by an antique quilt. This overall photo doesn't do the quilt justice--it's vibrant and full of colorful 1800s reproduction fabrics. To truly appreciate this quilt, we’re including some close-up detail of the center and some of the pieced borders.

 

To participate in the program, you need a copy of Di's book Primarily Quilts. Order it here and we'll ship it with your first month's kit. 

Then, reserve your spot to receive our monthly kits. We’re dividing this program into 18 months due to the fabric-intensive nature of these kits.

The quilt in the book is tied together by that outer border triangle which Di describes as a "busy" print. While the quilt as pictured has a definite brown tone, we know there are a lot of you that love blue so we're offering CHOICES! Read on to find out more.

We'll be using this print as the main background for the center of the quilt. If you look closely at Di's version, you'll see she used a very similar, large-scale tonal floral for her background. You'll receive 2 1/8 yards in month 1 along with other fabrics for the center block. 

Each monthly kit will feature fabrics a variety of 1800s-reproduction style fabrics with an emphasis on prints from Andover Fabrics including collections from  Di Ford, Kathy Hall and Max and Louise and prints from Marcus Fabrics, including pieces from Paula Barnes' Baltimore House collection, along with other coordinating 1800s fabrics we pick up along the way. 

So here's the fun part. Pick your fabric for the outer border setting triangles from these 2 options and then we'll coordinate the rest of your frames and fabrics to these choices. You can tilt your quilt in the classic 1800s reproduction look with a focus on golden tans and browns with Option 1:

At the end of the program, you’ll have all the fabric needed for the top and the binding. Month 1 kit is $46.90. Then, kits 2-18 are $22.95 each. The first kits will ship in December, 2018.  Pick your preferred option here.
