Mill Girls

Nancy Rink's stunning quilt will be available as a monthly program starting in October. Read all about it & reserve your spot now.

THE MILL GIRLS: 1830 - 1850, a new collection by Judie Rothermel, with a unique BOM program designed by Nancy Rink. The collection is produced in conjunction with the release of Nancy’s new book, entitled Away From Home: Quilts Inspired by the Story of the Lowell Mill Girls (Kansas City Star Quilts). The book will be released in April 2012 and we'll have it available for sale later this spring. You don't need the book for this BOM as it has its own pattern series.

In the fabric collection, Judie Rothermel gives quilters a historically accurate palette of tans and browns blended with burgundy, blue, and green taken from the period of the mid 1800s. Each of the ten block patterns of The Mill Girls BOM program is named after
a factory girl and each is accompanied by excerpts from her letter. Together, the quilt program with its patterns and the book
provide a unique glimpse into the rich textile history of Lowell, Massachusetts.

The first kit will ship in October, 2012 as we are waiting on fabric. The quilt is 98" square.  This is a 10 month program. Each kit will include Nancy's pattern along with fabric to make a section of the quilt. Monthly kits are $22.95. We will have coordinating 108" wide backing available to order as well.

All of our Special Programs or Monthly Programs require a commitment from you for the length of the program. Signing up for a Block of the Month is the same as putting a "quilt" on lay-away". You are making a commitment to purchase the entire set of patterns or kits. You have the choice of prepaying for the entire BOM or paying on a monthly basis. There are NO exceptions to this rule, so please don't ask if you can discontinue a program once you've joined in.

Most programs have an optional finishing or sashing kit which you may decide to purchase at the end of the program. We'll give you details on the finishing kit as the program is winding down & you may decide then what to do.
