When we saw Missie Carpenter’s quilt on one of our friend’s Facebook pages, we knew it was a future BOM here at Homestead Hearth. So, let’s not delay any longer . . . may we present . . . Life in the Midwest.

Finishing at 84” square, this quilt combines piecing, applique & English paper piecing, our new favorite technique. We’re offering this as a monthly program so you can make a section of the quilt each month and have a beautiful finished quilt at the end.
This quilt is constructed by piecing the hexagons into a medallion which is then appliqued to the large background piece along with all the applique elements and the corner stars. The pattern recommends 4 ¾ yards of background. To allow for those who like to prewash, we’re offering a 5 yard piece of background fabric. We’re using Moda’s Primitive Muslin in Pie Crust.

Normally, the 5 yards would retail for $49.95, but members of our BOM may purchase the background for $39.96 (20% discount) and it will be sent in month 1. Of course, you’re free to pick your own background too.
Then, order the pattern. It retails for $28. The pattern includes a sheet where you can make copies of the hexagon shape for the English paper piecing. If you would rather spend your time sewing rather than copying & cutting, we’re offering packs of ½” hexagon papers for just $5.50 each. (100 papers per pack). You’ll need about 14 of the packs. You’re welcome to order those as you need them rather than all at once.
Then, sign up to receive monthly kits. We’re dividing this quilt into 14 months. The first month will ship in March, 2012. Each kit is just $17.95.
